A fight between two men over a woman in Turlock resulted in one man being stabbed and the other under arrest.

The fight happened shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday in a field behind a business in the 1300 block of Fulkerth Road.

The Turlock Police Department was dispatched to the area after calls came in reporting two men were fighting one another and that one appeared to be injured.

Investigators later learned the men had been fighting over a woman and during the altercation the suspect, later identified as Richard Bonilla, 52, pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim. The stab wound caused a non life-threatening injury, said Turlock Police spokesperson Sgt. Russ Holeman.

When officers arrived at the scene neither the suspect or the victim was to be found. The victim had already left for the hospital, which is where detectives found him.

Bonilla was located a couple of blocks away from the scene and taken into custody without incident.

Bonilla was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held at the Stanislaus County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bail.
