A 21-year-old man was arrested for aggravated assault after briefly taking a man hostage at a Turlock bus stop Friday night.

Turlock Police officers first contacted Ricardo Correa around 5 p.m. Friday at a bus stop at Crowell Road and Monte Vista Avenue, after receiving complaints of a man creating a disturbance. Initially Correa was compliant with the officers, but turned hostile as they were leaving, according to the police report.

Correa allegedly was making threats to take a hostage if the bus didn’t arrive soon. He then grabbed a man standing nearby and held a key with a knife attached to it to the man’s neck, the police department reported.

Correa released the man moments later and wandered into the middle of the street. Officers were able to take him into custody, though he was resisting, the police report stated.

The man taken hostage was not injured.
