Man taken into custody on drug warrant

A report of a suspicious man believed to have hidden a firearm in some bushes led to the arrest of a Turlock man on a drug warrant and the recovery of a knife.

Around 11:45 p.m. Dec. 24 the Turlock Police Department received a report of a man acting suspicious in the 1800 block of Lander Avenue, near the AM/PM.

The caller reported seeing the man hide something in the bushes near the front of the business when a police officer drove by. From the caller’s perspective the item appeared to be a firearm.

Officers responded to the area and found Jasper McCormick, 31, who matched the description of the man provided by the caller, in the 500 block of W. Linwood Avenue.

McCormick had a felony warrant for drugs issued against him and was taken into custody.

Officers searched the bushes and found a knife, but no firearm.
