Drug busts conducted by the Merced County Sheriff’s Department led to the confiscation of several marijuana products.

A search warrant served at a home in Delhi led to the discovery of a marijuana growing operation and a mother who was allowing her 15-year-old daughter to use it and sell it from her bedroom, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Department.

On the morning of Aug. 17, the sheriff’s department served a search warrant at a home in the 15000 block of Roseann Court in Delhi. At the residence deputies found a loaded AK-47 and 80 pounds of packaged marijuana for sale in the master bedroom closet.

In the backyard deputies found a makeshift greenhouse that had 12 marijuana plants growing inside it.

Arrested were Jose Reyes Martinez and Norma Angelica Alvarez, both 44 and from Delhi.

During the investigation deputies learned the 15-year-old daughter was given marijuana from her mother to use and sell from her bedroom. Deputies located packaged marijuana for sale, marijuana edibles and other items associated with the sales and use of marijuana belonging to the daughter.

The deputies contacted Child Protective Services and the agency took two juveniles into their care.
