An attempted traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in Turlock early Sunday morning sparked a pursuit that ended when the vehicle became lodged in a cluster of trees outside a Hughson residence.
Taken into custody following the pursuit were Ricky Silva, 30, and Jessica Nimmo, 35, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Steve Rodrigues.
The incident began around 2:30 a.m. Sunday when an officer was patrolling the 2200 block of N. Walnut Road. The area had recently been the scene of a burglary and when the officer spotted a suspicious vehicle, he attempted to pull it over in the area of Colorado and E. Monte Vista avenues, Rodrigues said.
The driver, later identified as Silva, refused to stop and sped away from the patrol car, sparking a pursuit that wound its way to Hughson.
In the 9400 block of Whitmore Avenue in Hughson Silva lost control of the vehicle, causing it to get stuck in a group of trees.
Silva and his passenger, Nimmo, were both taken into custody without further incident.
A check of the vehicle revealed that it had been reported stolen out of Livermore.
Silva and Nimmo were both arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle. Silva also was arrested for felony evading and a warrant.
