Stolen firearm recovered

Turlock police officers arrested a 19-year-old man after finding him in possession of a stolen firearm that he had allegedly just used to threaten someone.

Around 2 a.m. Saturday the police department received a report from an individual saying a man had just brandished a gun at the individuals in the area of East Avenue and S. Golden State Boulevard.

The caller said the man was the rear passenger in a vehicle that the caller was able to describe for the officers.

The vehicle was spotted leaving a parking lot on N. Golden State Boulevard and stopped by officers. The officers found Joey Prasad, 19, in possession of the firearm, which turned out to be stolen.

Prasad was booked for brandishing a firearm, possession of stolen property, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and carrying a concealed firearm.
