A man who allegedly stole a motorcycle from a Turlock neighborhood, but left his backpack at the scene, was arrested Friday morning in Denair after crashing the motorcycle.

The suspect was identified by the Turlock Police Department as Jeramy Kujawinski, 26.

The 1991 Honda motorcycle was stolen from a residence in the 1100 block of El Paseo around 6 a.m. Friday.

Minutes later the motorcycle was reported as crashed in Denair and the suspect was wandering in the area in his pajama bottoms, according to the police report.

Officers didn’t have to look very far to identify the suspect because he left his backpack at the site of the theft.

Kujawinski also was connected to a theft of tools from a toolbox in a vehicle in the 200 block of Duke Court.

Kujawinski was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and possession of stolen property.
