The Avoid the 12 anti-drunk driving crackdown for the Fourth of July holiday period resulted in an increase of arrests for driving under the influence.
The 48-hour effort started at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, and continued through midnight Wednesday. Officers representing 12 county law enforcement agencies arrested 10 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In 2011, eight DUI arrests occurred during the first two days of the July 4th holiday.
No fatalities were reported over the two days.
DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols will be out in force throughout the weekend throughout the region.
