A man was arrested by the Turlock Police Department Wednesday after repeatedly trespassing at a residence and then threatening the homeowner when he was confronted.

The suspect was identified as Joel Bara, 36. He was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the police report, Bara was repeatedly found trespassing at the property in the 600 block of Geer Road.

The homeowner went out to the front yard to confront Bara and order him to leave, which is when Bara allegedly pulled out a large knife, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Russ Holeman.

The homeowner had to grab something at hand to ward off Bara, who was reportedly approaching with the knife. That something happened to be a crutch.

The victim swung the crutch and made contact with Bara, who in turn ran away.

The homeowner contacted the police and they began a search of the area. He was located and taken into custody. He was still in possession of the knife, Holeman said.

There is no relationship between the homeowner and Bara and it’s unknown why he continued to trespass at the property.
