Authorities recovered the body of a 72-year-old Turlock man from the Delta-Mendota canal Monday morning.

The man was identified as Larry Dinwiddie by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office. A cause of death is pending the autopsy results, but it appeared as if Dinwiddie may have fallen in while fishing. Authorities found his vehicle and fishing equipment about a mile north from where the body was found.

Dinwiddie was found in the water by a farm worker early Monday morning, who reported it to the West Stanislaus Fire Protection District.
