With the influx of holiday packages and cards being delivered across the area, the Turlock Police Department is noticing an increase in mail thefts.

The police department reported they have been receiving more reports of mailbox break-ins, particularly the cluster boxes.

The thefts have been happening in various neighborhoods around Turlock. The Facebook page for Turlock Neighborhood Watch has posts about mail and package thefts in the areas of S. Quincy Road, E. Monte Vista Avenue, Amethyst Way, Noble Lane, Colorado Avenue and Merritt Street.

Anyone seeing a theft in progress should call 911 and provide the dispatcher with a detailed description of the suspect, including a description of the clothing, height, weight, approximate age and any vehicles or other method of transportation that they may be using.

Anyone spotting someone behaving suspiciously in their neighborhood or around a cluster mail box, should report it to the police department dispatch at 668-1200.
