Women arrested in connection with robbery outside bank

The ongoing investigation into a robbery outside a Turlock bank has led to the arrest of two Merced County women on conspiracy and abetting charges.

The two male robbers remain at large.

The victim of the Monday afternoon robbery was walking toward the Bank of the West at 2101 Fulkerth Road around when two unidentified adult men began approaching him.

According to the Turlock Police report, one of the suspects grabbed the man’s bank deposit bag as they ran by. The two men ran to a minivan parked nearby and fled the area.

The bank deposit bag held an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the police department.

A witness told the police a woman was driving the getaway vehicle and was able to provide a license plate number. The plate was traced back to a Merced County residence.

At the residence police found Zona Lessard, 26, and Raneena White, 20. Investigators suspect one woman served as the driver and the other assisted the two robbery suspects.

Both women were taken into custody on charges of conspiracy and aiding and abetting.

Investigators are following up tips as to the identities of the two robbery suspects.
