Grant to assist Hispanic education

Hispanic education will receive a boost locally, as the U.S. Department of Education awarded a $230,000 grant to CSU Stanislaus.
The grant will fund the Stanislaus Association of Hispanic Research, which aims to raise awareness of post-graduate degree programs to prepare future education leaders. The association hopes to promote development of school leadership focused on Hispanic education issues through post-graduate study.
CSU Stanislaus is a federally-designated Hispanic Serving Institution, with more than 25 percent of students claiming Latino heritage.
The grant will also provide programs for leaders and teachers at regional dual-language schools, such as Osborn Elementary.
