Students at Medeiros Elementary School received a very special visitor on Thursday afternoon when the towering monster truck Jekyll & Hyde parked alongside campus for their viewing pleasure. The truck used to be driven by Denair’s Russell Steeley, brother of Medeiros special education teacher Carissa Borba, but is now driven by Austin Minton, who will be competing against eight other trucks in this weekend’s Monster Truck Spring Nationals at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds. Steeley and Minton were on hand Thursday to answer students’ questions, who were curious as to how Minton is able to hop into such a big truck and if he knows how to “pop a wheelie.”
