University of California, Merced cognitive science Professor Teenie Matlock was among 18 named to a UC Advisory Council on Campus Climate, Culture and Inclusion.

The Advisory Council was created by University of California President Mark G. Yudof, and will work closely with a UC Board of Regents committee to address challenges in enhancing and sustaining a tolerant, inclusive environment on each of the university's 10 campuses.

The Advisory Council’s creation came as a result of several highly charged racial, religious and cultural incidents that transpired over the past year on UC campuses.

Non-student Advisory Council members will serve for three years. They will first meet on June 30.
