For years, Turlockers have known the address at 128 S. Center St. as Al’s Billiards, but soon the community will welcome a new bar into the downtown location.

39 Milestone, LLC, has applied for permits to transform the tired venue into a bar complete with billiards, shuffle board and electronic dartboards. A revamped front entrance and proposed outdoor seating in both the back and the front of the building will bring excitement to the downtown area, hopes developer Daniel Leones.

“The theme of the bar is still in talks, but the goal is to provide something different for Turlock,” said Leones.

In addition to the bar’s game area, the remodeled location will also include a stage fit for live entertainment, as well as a dance floor. The location’s bar will be in the middle of the venue, rather than against the wall like other downtown bars.

“We’re extremely excited about it,” said Leones. “It’s going to be really nice.”

Leones was inspired by his uncles, who both own bars in San Jose, to embark on his own business journey in Turlock. As a resident of the city for nearly 10 years, Leones has watched downtown businesses flourish and is eager to join in on the success.

“I see the downtown has really grown and is thriving,” said Leones. “Having acquired the property right in the middle of that is awesome, and we’re excited to get something in there for the community.”

The new bar is still going through the City of Turlock’s permit application process, but Leones hopes that construction will be complete and the bar will open to the public in the spring.

“We’re eager to get going on construction and get this bar open,” said Leones.
