History of business:

Just over a year ago, Turlock resident Jessica Lozano opened Impact Nutrition 91 with a goal of sharing her passion for health and fitness with the rest of the community. Today, that hope has grown into a loyal customer base whose bodies — and taste buds — benefit from the shop’s variety of healthy treats and drinks on the daily.

Impact Nutrition 91 opened its doors last June and was inspired by Lozano’s commitment to her own wellbeing, which saw her lose 30 pounds by swapping out milkshakes for protein shakes. She wanted to add to Turlock’s list of healthy options and give others the opportunity to change their lives as well, she said.

“I’ve gained so much more energy by staying active and healthy, and I wanted our community to have more choices. Instead of a smoothie that contains a lot of sugar, they can maybe replace that with something healthier with more protein, more calcium and more things that their body actually needs instead of what it craves,” Lozano said.

Impact Nutrition 91 offers a variety of drinks, like fruity aloe that can aid with digestion, lifted teas with a natural energy boost and even herbal teas which can provide antioxidant support. Those in search of a caffeine boost can order a protein coffee and the shop also makes handcrafted meal replacement shakes in flavors like Dutch chocolate or Reese’s — all healthy and even kid-approved.

“They taste really amazing. They don’t even taste like they’re healthy,” Lozano said. “If my kids are approving it, then I feel like anyone would like it as well.”

Snacks and treats are also on the menu at Impact Nutrition 91 like protein donuts and waffles.

“They’re perfect for when you’re craving something sweet but want to stay on track,” Lozano said.

Business has been great over the past year, she added, and the shop’s loyal clientele have gotten Impact Nutrition 91 through the pandemic thanks to their support. She hopes that after the pandemic is over, the shop can resume the free workout classes it used to host. In the meantime, they plan on offering deals to students as school starts back up because at the end of the day, it’s the customers that matter most.

“I love interacting with people and I love talking to people. I love when they come in just talking about their life and I just listen to them,” Lozano said. “That’s the best part about my job.”
