Tony Toste, 86, of Turlock, passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson with his family by his side. He was born in Tipton to Manuel and Maria Toste in 1923. In 1935 his family moved to the Azores. He moved back to California and worked for AC Transit before retiring at the age of 56 in Stevinson. He was a member of many Catholic organizations. Anthony enjoyed gardening, traveling in his motor home, and spending time with his family — especially his three grandchildren. Tony is survived by his wife, Adelina Toste; daughters, Brenda (Scott Norquist) Toste of Denair and Janet (Duarte) Monteiro of Fremont; and grandchildren, Madison Norquist, Eric Monteiro and Amanda Lingle.
Tony was preceded in death by his first wife, Angela Toste; and sisters, Erma Azevedo and Maria T. Machado.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 25 at Allen Mortuary. A rosary and mass will follow at 2 p.m. on Friday, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hilmar. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 26 at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 1051 Harder Rd., Hayward.
