Danny Leo Harris, 77, of Turlock, died at his home on Sunday June 3rd with his loving wife by his side. He was born on January 14,1941in Salinas, CA to the late Leo and Marilyn Harris. They moved to Turlock in 1952; he was the only child and enjoyed the pleasures and pitfalls that go with growing up and coming of age in 1950’s Turlock.

Danny was a graduate of Turlock High School, Class of 1958, and played on the championship football team.  He attended Modesto Junior College and worked various jobs before enlisting in the National Guard in 1959. He began working in 1962 for the California Department of

Corrections, where he made his career and retired after thirty-plus years. 

Danny was a sports enthusiast and played on local senior softball leagues until 2015; he encouraged his grandchildren to play sports and missed very few of their games. He was an avid duck and deer-hunter, four-wheeler and backpacker and he shared his love of the outdoors with his friends and family.

In 1961, Danny married Nancy Gevings of Turlock, and although they later divorced they remained collectively devoted to their three children.  He is survived by his three children, ten grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren: Daughter- Lori Maddox and son-in-law Pat Maddox (their four children and three grandchildren), Son-Craig Harris and daughter-in-law Patti Harris (their three children), Son-David Harris and daughter-in-law Katharine Harris (and their three children).

In 2012, Danny married the love-of-his-life, Sylvia Cisneros. Dan and Sylvia spent their retirement together doting over their pets, traveling, enjoying their many grandchildren and planning for future adventures. He is survived by Sylvia and her five children and four grandchildren: Son-Fready Maldonado (his one child), Daughter- Mary Andrea Jimenez (her three children), Son- Maximiliano Maldonado,Daughter- Lauren Maldonado, and Son- Andrew Maldonado.

A Celebration of Life,with a luncheon reception to follow, will be held at

10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 22, at Turlock Funeral Home,425 N. Soderquist Rd.,Turlock.
