James was born in San Bernardino, California to Raymond and Winona Browning and passed away at the age of 85 in Turlock.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force and Navy; serving his country during the Korean War.  Jim was a minister for 25 years, he served as an elder with Church of Christ in Modesto and also served as a minister in the jail system.  He worked as a general contractor for many years and also was a 203 HUD consultant.  During his free time he enjoyed working on various projects at home.  Jim was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Fran Browning; children Susan (Ronnie) Gardner, R. Todd Browning, Stacie (Barry) Saugen and James A. Browning; grandchildren Cassie Gardner, Chad (Monica) Gardner, Crystal Browning, Corie (Joe) Ambert and Ashley Manning; great grandchildren Tyler Hood, Seth Hood, Siena Gardner, Jacob Albo and Julian Ambert.

James was preceded in death by his parents; siblings and granddaughter Courtney Manning.

Celebration of life service will be held at Church of Christ in Turlock on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 10:30a.m.  Private committal with military honors will be held at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery at a later date.
