Lawrence (Larry) Alvin Frice was born on June 29th, 1945 to Alvin and Clara Frice in Vancouver, Washington. His younger brother Stephen (Steve) was born 2 years later. Larry and Steve both developed a love of gardening and farming at a young age, a hobby they both enjoyed later in life as well. Larry attended Evergreen High School, graduating in 1963. His senior year of high school he was the President of the school’s chapter of The National Honor Society, co-captain of the debate team, a National Merit Scholar and co-valedictorian of his graduating class.

He attended Washington State University in Pullman WA, majoring in Physical Science Education. He graduated in 1968 with a BS Degree and a State of Washington Teaching Credential. He was also a Distinguished Graduate of the Air Force ROTC Program and commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He would later go on to earn an MS in Education and an MS in Aeronautical Science while in the Air Force. Larry proudly served his country for over 20 years as a pilot, flight instructor and simulator instructor.

Larry’s love of teaching continued after he retired. He quickly earned his California Teaching Credentials and for the next 18 years taught at Winton Middle School.

After his retirement from teaching in 2007, Larry enjoyed spending time with family & friends, working on family genealogy and cataloging family history. He volunteered as a tour guide at the Castle Air Museum; he loved giving tours and telling stories. The highlight of every week was his Wednesday lunches with the ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out), a group of longtime friends, many of whom were in the service also.

Larry passed to the Lord on the 19th of April 2023 after health difficulties exacerbated by COVID.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Shirley; daughter, Stephanie; son, Jeremy; grandsons, Everett & Jaxon and a large extended family.
