Lynette “Lynn” Ann Perry, age 69, passed away on July 6, 2015 at her home in Melba Idaho following a brief battle with cancer.  Born June 2, 1946, she was one of five children born to Joe and Velma Santos in Turlock California. She grew up and went to school in Hilmar California where she graduated from Hilmar High School in 1964.

Lynn met her best friend and the love of her life, her husband Dan when she was in 8th grade. They were married in Hilmar on September 4, 1965. Together Lynn and Dan raised their only daughter, Michele. Dan and Lynn’s life together was full of fun and adventure, good times and bad, but above all full of LOVE. Lynn worked 13 years for United California Bank (UCB) in Turlock. In 1977 she and Dan moved to Idaho and settled in Melba where they owned a business. After the business she spent some time as a teachers’ aide for the Melba Elementary School, and then became the City Clerk of Melba. She served as City Clerk for 22 years until her retirement.

Lynn had a great sense of humor, which she kept until the end. She loved to laugh and always tried to find the lighter side of most situations. She shared her humor with others when she briefly wrote columns for the Kuna-Melba News in the mid-1980s. She also spent many years assisting her husband Dan with the Melba QRU. The annual 4th of July Fun Run was one of her favorite “love-hate” projects. The “love” for the QRU far out-weighed the “hate” of all the work.

Lynn loved to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and special occasions with her family. Each was made memorable with decorations, good food, and fun times. Christmas was her favorite and always included LOTS of Christmas lights, hung by Dan of course.

Lynn enjoyed traveling with Dan to California to visit family and friends. Often she would stay up half the night talking and laughing with her sisters Bev and Barb, or her good friend Yvonne. Many times these visits resulted in sore throats and lost voices but were well worth it.

Lynn’s greatest joy in life was her grandchildren, Spencer and Hannah. Many weekends were spent at “Framma and Papa’s” house baking cookies, making art projects, decorating for holidays, singing silly songs, and playing games. Spencer and Hannah were the center of her world. She was very proud of the successful, sensitive, intelligent young adults they have become. Her love for them was immeasurable.

Lynn is survived by her loving and devoted husband of nearly 50 years, Dan; her daughter Michele and son-in law John Kelly of Boise; her grandson Spencer Kelly of Boise; her granddaughter Hannah Kelly of Nampa; her sisters Bev Cozzitorto and Barbara Troesch of Turlock; several extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by both her parents, Joe and Velma; her eldest sister Irene; and her brother Mel. The family extends a special thanks to Dan’s brother Darold Perry and his wife Kathy for their TLC during Lynn’s last days. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Melba Quick Responders P.O. Box 189 Melba, ID 83641.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 10 at the Melba Cemetery, Baseline Rd in Melba. Arrangements are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa, 467-7300. Condolences may be expressed at zeyerfuneralchapel.com.
