William “Bill” Gilley, Jr., 76 of Newman passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2017.  He was born to Wiliam and Iris Gilley in Bay, Arkansas on February 10, 1941.  Bill married Sue Tully on December 25, 1961 and they were married for 56 years.

Bill and Sue moved to Newman in 1964 where Bill was a loved and respected member of the community and was a member of the Newman Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years.  Bill had a lifelong passion for cars and making them go fast.  This passion enabled Bill to support his family for over 30 years as the owner of Gilleys Auto Repair in Newman. Bill was a firm believer in working hard but also loved to have fun, whether it was building a motor, racing a car or enjoying his grandkids.  Bill passed on his love for cars to his 2 sons and 3 grandsons.  Knowing this fact brought a smile to his face and put a twinkle in his beautiful blue eyes.  When asked…his family said “Bill Gilley lived life to the fullest and on his own terms.”

William is survived by his loving wife Blanch Sue Gilley; two sons Larry and wife Debbie of Hilmar, Kenneth and wife Missy Harrison of Arkansas; three wonderful grandsons Grayson and Tanner Eubanks of Harrison, AR, Jason Gilley of Hilmar; and his niece Kimberly Gilley of Harrison, AR along with many other family members and friends who will greatly miss him.
